Türkiye’de Matematik Eğitimi Araştırmalarındaki Matematiksel Model Oluşturma Etkinliklerinin İncelenmesi
Abstract
A designed teaching approach should be able to increase the students' motivation, direct them to higher-level thinking, establish interdisciplinary connections, enable them to transfer the knowledge they learn at school to real life, produce effective and creative solutions, analyze and generalize. Model eliciting activities (MEA) enable students can simplify a problem they face, analyze sub-problems and data using tables, figures, graphics; they will be able to develop problem solving skills such as exploring structures, making predictions about the outcome of the problem, obtaining equations from the data and using and testing them. These skills will enable individuals to become qualified, creative and productive staff in post-school business and professional life. To attract students' interest in mathematics, love mathematics and internalize concepts all these skills emphasize the importance of mathematical modeling. The aim of this research is to investigate the mathematical modeling activities made in mathematics educational researches in Türkiye in the context of model eliciting activities principles by Lesh and Doerr (2003) which was taken part in the literature. In this research, it is aimed to create a model for MEA examination for researchers’ and mathematics educators’ benefit.
