Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of formative assessment applications in addition to widely used explicit-reflective approach on teaching nature of science to seventh grade primary school students during the instruction of the Structure and Properties of Matter unit in the Science and Technology course.44 students enrolled in an elementary school participated in the study for six weeks in the city of Ankara. Same activities developed with an explicit-reflective approach were given to two groups of participants (study group and control group).
