Tga (Tahmin Et-Gözle-Açıkla) Yöntemi Destekli Etkinliklerin Lise Öğrencilerinin Üst Biliş Farkındalıkları Üzerine Etkisinin Araştırılması
Özet
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of “Predict-Observation-Explain” POE activities which is carried out with the help of the POE method worksheets on “States of Matter” in the 9th grade Chemistry course curriculum, on students’ metacognitive awareness. The sample consisted of 99 students who are studying in classes of 9th class in Mehmet Rüştü Uzel Vocational High School between 2016 and 2017 academic year. This research is a mixed method study. While the quantitative part of the research was carried out using the pre-test and post-test model with the control group, the qualitative part was conducted with the focus group interview technique. The data collection tool was Metacognitive Awareness Inventory. Descriptive statistics, two-way multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and dependent groups t test were applied for the analysis of students' scores which were obtained from the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory. At the end of the research, it was found that the activities prepared according to the POE method increased the metacognitive awareness of the students in the experimental group, which was characterized by all the other sub-dimensions except for procedural information and evaluation. It is evaluated and interpreted how much quantitative results explained with the resultings of focus group interview.
