The aim of this study is to reveal to what extent nine types of intelligence
constituting an intelligent school and the dimensions of each type of intelligence
exist in a secondary school. The model of the research is case study which is a
basic form of the qualitative research. In this research, of purposeful sampling
strategies, criterion sampling and confirming and disconfirming case sampling
were used. The sampling of the research were the teachers and administrators of
Şehit Yunus Baykal secondary school in Odunpazarı, Eskişehir that attained
important achievements of the first in Odunpazarı and of the second in the
province of Eskişehir in the TEOG examinations in 2014-2015 and 2016-2017
academic years. Interview is the basic data collection method used in this
research. At the same time, observation and document analysis data collection
methods were implemented for data triangulation. For analysis of research data,
constant comparative method was used. In this study, open coding was used to
create a category or theme for data sets and axial coding or analytical coding was
also implemented to combine the categories developed during the open coding
process or grouping open codes. According to the findings derived from the data
obtained from participating teachers and senior managers in the school which is
the subject of study, the presence of ethical, spiritual, contextual, emotional,
collegial, reflective, and systemic intelligence was in moderate level while
operational and pedagogical intelligence was in low level. Futhermore, in
accordance with the themes or findings derived from the data analysis process,
nine basic principles and thirty-six complementary principles forming an intelligent
school are described in this study.
