Kabul ve Kararlılık Terapisi Temelli Psikoeğitim Programının Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Kariyer Sıkıntısı ve Kararlılığına Etkisi
Özet
The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of psychoeducation program based on
acceptance and commitment therapy on career distress and decidedness of university
students. In the study, a sequential mixed-methods design was used, where quantitative data
was collected first, followed by the collection of qualitative data. In the qualitative phase of the
study, using a phenomenological design to explore students' career distress in depth, focus
group interviews were conducted with 37 students from different departments, selected
through purposeful sampling. In the quantitative phase of the study, a psychoeducation
program based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy was developed. To evaluate its
effectiveness on career distress and decisiveness, a real experimental design with pre-test,
post-test, and follow-up test control groups was implemented. The study group consisted of 27
students, 12 experimental and 15 control. Sessions lasted 8 weeks, once a week. After the
pre, post, and follow-up tests for both groups, a short program was applied to the control group.
Content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data, and two-way analysis of variance
(ANOVA) was used for mixed measurements in the analysis of quantitative data. As a result
of the study, it was seen that the program was effective in increasing the career decidedness
of university students and reducing their distress. The findings were discussed in light of the
literature and some suggestions were made.
