The aim of this study is to reveal the behavioral goals of physics, chemistry and biology preservice teachers for using the laboratory safely with the Theory of Planned Behavior. The
sample of the study consisted of 449 pre-service teachers studying in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and
4th grades of Physics, Chemistry and Biology Teacher Education at Hacettepe University,
Gazi University and Necmettin Erbakan University. The collected data were analyzed using
SPSS 26 and LISREL 8.80 software. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the subdimensions that were effective in explaining the purpose of behavior in the structural
equation model of physics, chemistry and biology pre-service teachers were “Attitude
Towards Behavior”, “Subjective Norm” and “Perceived Behavioral Control”. The effect of
“Attitude Towards Behavior” on “Behavioral Intention” was found to be higher than the effect
of “Subjective Norm” on “Behavioral Intention” and the effect of “Perceived Behavioral
Control” on “Behavioral Intention”. Female pre-service teachers have more “Attitude
Towards Behavior” and “Behavioral Intention” than male pre-service teachers. When the
difference according to the department was examined, it was found that “Behavioral
Intention” of pre-service biology teachers was higher than pre-service physics and
chemistry teachers. When the difference according to the grade level is examined, it can be
said that the “Attitudes Towards Behavior” of the pre-service teachers studying in the 1st
grade are higher than the pre-service teachers studying in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades.
