In this study, 30 students who learned Turkish as a foreign language in two
university’s Turkish Teaching Center and a private language teaching center were
found to have the level of A1 (Breakthrough)-A2 (Waystage), B1 (Threshold)-B2
(Vantage) and C1 (Effective Operational Proficiency). The 150 texts they produced
in the passing exam course texts were evaluated in terms of the use of the elements
of cohesion. In this study, written expressions written by 30 students who are
learning Turkish in passing exams are examined. Age, gender, nationality and
educational status of the students were not used as a variable in the study. The
Cohesion Level Assessment Form was used to evaluate the cohesion elements in
the texts produced in the writing exam. In This study; the quality of a text and the
harmony of the grammatical connections in the text can be determined by
measuring the cohesion elements, the use of the cohesion elements in a proper way
is of great importance in the development of writing skills, the cohesion elements
used by the students are lexical cohesion (2,668), conjunctions (2,386), reference
(1,995), ellipsis (1,414), substitution (31).The most common errors in the use of the
elements of the elements of the wrong or continuous repetition of the elements of
the connection has been established. In this study, it is aimed to contribute to the
field by examining the cohesion elements of measurement and evaluation
applications made during the process of teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
