Collaborative problem-solving skills (CPSS) mean the capacity of two or more collaborators (human or computer) for effectively engaging in a process to solve a problem by sharing their understanding and efforts. In terms of gifted and talented students, Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) is thought to provide important learning opportunities for higher-order learning. Moreover, CPS provides challenging learning experiences and improves readiness for further learning involving advanced content and processes such as project studies. Examining studies about CPSS with gifted students, has shown that limited number of studies, not directly related to CPSS, were conducted. Also, they have not used professional norm groups to evaluate effectiveness of project experiences. Aim of this study is to examine current perceptions of gifted and talented students on using CPSS during projects and to compare their perception with those of experienced individuals on projects. The research method in this study is quantitative comparative method. Three data collection tools were used: CPSS scale for students and professionals, Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale and Collective Orientation Scale (COS). Moreover, personal information form was used. For analyzing the data exploratory factor analysis, calculating descriptive statistics, regression and t-test for independent groups were used. Regression analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between CPSS and COS scores. The findings indicated that the gifted students do not have similar perceptions with the experienced individuals. Experienced individuals have more positive perceptions regarding CPSS and COS. Findings showed necessity of evaluating the BILSEM project activities in terms of CPSS in detail.
