The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems of the problems confronted in English language teaching at secondary school instituons in Çankırı. The students and English teachers from secondary schools that have English lessons as a foreign language took part in this study. The research used qualitative method. Student and language teacher’s interviews and the derived data was administered by content analysis. In this study, students and language teachers were asked open ended questions prepared in advance. The questions are categorized as school administration, student, teacher, course materials, learning environment and second language curriculum. In consideration of the data, some preventative and analytical suggestions were made. It is aimed that this study will participate in-depth data about this matter. At the end of this study, it is aimed that the problems in ELT in Turkiye is going to be solved in the light of the data derived from Çankırı. At the end of this study, it is concluded that teachers are not satisfied with students’ motivation and course books and they are majorly pleased with foreign language policy and school administration. It is pointed out that students are aware of learning English but they have difficulty in using target language in their daily lives. Some soluitons are expressed for these problems in this study. It is emphasized on teachers’ participation to process of choosing course book and technological equipment. Also, it should be created an effective learning environment for students in their daily lives.
