Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Yakın İlişki İnançları ve Benlik Değişimlerinin Romantik İlişkilerinin Niteliğini Yordama Gücü
Özet
The aim of the current study is to determine the predictive power of the university students’ beliefs about their relationships and the self-change in their relationships on quality of their romantic relationships. In addition, it has also been examined whether the close relationship beliefs, self-change and relationship quality differ according to the gender and duration of the relationship. The study group of the research consists of 361 (212 female, 149 male) undergraduate students with a romantic relationship and continue their education at different state universities in three big cities.
In the study, The Relationship Beliefs Scale (RBS), The Turkish Version of the Relational Self-Change Scale (TVRSCS), Relationship Quality Scale (RQS) and Personal Information Form (PIF) have been used. For the analysis of the data obtained from the research, the independent samples t-test, multiple linear regression analysis and one-way analysis of variance methods have been used. LISREL and SPSS 23.0 packet programs have been utilized for the data analysis.
According to the findings of the research, “We must be completely open and honest to each other”, “We must meet all needs of each other”, “We must do everything together” and “Romantic idealism” dimensions of the close relationship beliefs, significantly predict the social support dimension; “We must meet all needs of each other” predicts conflict dimension; “We must be completely open and honest to each other”, “We must do everything together”, “We must be able to change each other” and “Romantic idealism” predict the depth dimension of the romantic relationship quality of the university students. The dimensions of self-change, self-expansion and self-contraction significantly predict the social support dimension; self-expansion, self-contraction and self-adulteration as to significantly predict the conflict and depth dimensions. The quality of the romantic relationships of the university students differ significantly according to the duration of the relationship and gender; their close relationship beliefs and self-changes differ significantly according to the gender.
