Çocuklarda Ayrılık Kaygısı ile Anne-Babanın Ayrılık Kaygısı ve Ebeveynliğe Yönelik Tutumları
Özet
In this study, it is aimed that examining the relation between the separation anxiety of the children and separation anxiety of parents and their attitudes towards parenting. For this purpose, 467 mothers-fathers resident in Ankara were reached. It is the “Separation Anxiety Evaluation Scale – Parents Form” which was adapted into Turkish by Teze and Arslan (2016) used in this study to determine the level of separation anxiety of the children. On the other hand, what were used that “Questionnaire of Separation Anxiety of Adults” which was adapted into Turkish by Diriöz and at al. (2011) to measure the separation anxiety of parents, and “Attitude Towards Parenting Scale” which was adapted into Turkish by Seçer and others (2008) to determine their attitudes towards parenting. “Personal Information Form” created by the researcher was used to obtain demographic information about participants.
SPSS 21.0 program was used to analyze the data gotten from the research. Whether there is a significant difference between the level of separation anxiety of mothers-fathers of the children, of whom separation anxiety level is low or high, and their attitudes towards parenting is examined by independent sample t test. According to this, children were classified into two groups, which are separation anxiety is low and high, by using the notes (by forming 27% base and top groups) that they got from Parenting Form of Separation Anxiety Evaluation Scale. The same method was used for the fear of abandonment and fear of being alone which are the base dimensions of separation anxiety variable, as well.
Both mothers’ and fathers’ of the children whose fear of being alone and abandonment are high, separation anxiety found (also) high. When mothers of children with high level of ‘fear of being alone’ compared to mothers of children with low level of ‘fear of being alone’, their attitudes towards parenting found low. According to the findings acquired from this research, the parents of children whose ‘fear of being alone’ is high, have less satisfaction from parenting. It has been observed that the mothers of children with high level of ‘fear of abandonment’ have low level of attitude and interest towards parenting. However, there is no significant difference between the average score of general perceived ability towards parenting and the average score of interest towards parenting of mothers of the children whose ‘fear of being alone’ are high and low. When individual and educational qualifications are observed ‘fear of abandonment’ varies significantly by growing age. When the number of the children in a family is evaluated, children in families with single child have higher level of ‘fear of abandonment’ than children in families with two or more children.
