Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the relationship between meaning in life, hope and
altruism levels in teachers. Another aim of the research was to examine whether there is a
significant difference meaning in life, hope and altruism levels in teachers according to
demographic variables of gender, age and professional seniority. The study group of the
research consists of 357 teachers working in schools affiliated to the MEB in a city in the
Central Anatolia Region. Personal Information Form, Meaning in Life Questionnaire,
Dispositional Hope Scale and Teacher Altruism Scale were used to collect the data.
Independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) methods were used
to analyze the data. The relationships between the variables were analyzed using Pearson
Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out with
SPSS 26.0 and LISREL 8.80 package programs. As a result of the analyzes, it was found
that there was a significant difference in the levels of meaning in life and its sub-dimensions,
hope and its sub-dimensions and altruism according to age and professional seniority. A
significant positive relationship was found between meaning in life and its sub-dimension,
the presence of meaning in life, and hope and its sub-dimensions. Additionally, a significant
positive relationship was found between the presence of meaning in life and altruism among
teachers. Finally, according to the results obtained, there was a significant positive
relationship between altruism and hope and its sub-dimensions in teachers.
