Ceramic material, which has an important place in contemporary art, can offer
endless varieties in creating a new language about art. In this study, with
ceramic applications, the fragment of woman and by this way, through female
body, a commentation on the body parts of women and criticism against
commodification have been made. Ceramic techniques, personal original
techniques and the applications made by using mixed materials have been
used to clarify the unchanging fortune of the woman and the judgments on her
through her body from the days of prehistoric times.
In the first part of the study; the condition has been handled in general with the
selected examples according to the stages in which women have passed
through the ages. In the second part, samples of addressing women in different
periods; in the third part, the theoretical explanations of the female body among
the items of the consumption culture and the imageries based on the meaning
surrounding it have been made and samples have been given. In the last part,
insofar as contemporary art permits, ceramics and mixed materials have been
used in twelve studies to give as examples for subjective critique on how
women are interpreted in today’s consumption culture especially through her
body
