The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between social justice leadership
(SJL) and school climate according to the views of students studying in 9th grade at Anatolian
High Schools, Anatolian Religious High Schools and Technical and Vocational Anatolian High
Schools. In this context 396 students in total answered the questions on Social Justice
Leadership Scale developed by Özdemir and Kütküt (2015) and School Climate Scale
developed by Çalık and Kurt (2010). Before handing out the scales to the students, four
demographical questions such as gender, school district, school type and family monthly
income had been placed. The independent variable of the study is determined as social justice
leadership and the dependent one is school climate. The relation between variables and
demographical questions were analyzed through t-test and one-way ANOVA. To determine
the students’ perceptions about the variables, mean and standard deviation techniques were
used. Also, the correlation between the variables was analyzed through Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. Multiple Regression Analysis was the technique used to
define the impact of social justice leadership on school climate. The results have shown that
the perceptions of students’ social justice leadership of school principals and school climate
are midlevel. Perceived SJL and school climate differed according to demographic variables.
Also, a positive, high, and statistically correlation is found between SJL and school climate. In
addition to these, SJL is statistically found as a significant predictor of school climate in
secondary schools.
