The study aims at examinig the relationship between students and teachers safe
school perceptions and student academic achievement in high school level in
Ankara.In this context ,safe schools,safe school climate,safe school and violence
relationship,the factors affecting student academic achievement are examined.It is
examined that the effect of safe school climate on student academic
achievement.In additon, the education of parents,income of parents,type of
schools and district where schools are located on students’ achievement are
examined.
It was concluded that there was no significantly relationship between teachers’
safe school perceptions and students’ academic achievement. The study indicated
that there was statistically positive and moderate relationship between students’
safe school perceptions and students’ academic achievement.
The study concluded that different type of schools showed statistically significant
relationship students’ safe school perceptions.
For this study two questionnaires were used: Safe school climate questionnaire for
students and for teachers. The questionnaires were applied to the 332 students
and 141 teachers of all six high schools in Altındağ and in Çankaya District. This
study was designed relationanal screening model.In addition, safe school control list
were determined and analyzed by instructor. For analyzing data, Manova, ttest, Anova, Welsh test, Kruskal Wallis H-test, Spearman corelation coefficient,
Pearson coreletion coefficient were used as ststistical techniques. Semi-structured
interview questions were analyzed with the content analyses
In the researh the perception of students of safe school climate showed
significant differences in two sub-levels in different type of schools. Students who
have parents with university degree are more succesfull than students who have
parents with high school degree. Students who have parents with high school

degree are more succesfull than stunets who have parents with primary school
degree.
The success of Anatolian high school is better than that of vocational high school.
Similarly, the success of vocational high school is beter than that of general high
school. The student perceptions of safety in Anatolian high school is higher than
that of vocational high school. Similarly, the student perceptions of safety in
vocational high school is higher than that of general high school. Students who
have high safety perceptions are more successfull than others. Students in
Çankaya District are more successfull than students in Altındağ District. Girls are
more successfull than boys. The students who have parents with income of 3000
TL and higher are more successfull and have high safety perceptions.
The moderate reletionship is found between students academic achievement and
safe school climate perceptions of students Safe school climate perceptions of
teachers show no diferrence with students academic achievement.
Students who feel themselves safely in life feel safely in school. Similarly,
Teachers who have positive safety perceptions in life feel safetly themselves in
school. This result is same in six schools in both district.
