The purpose of this study was to examine the suicide probability of university students in with respect to meaning in life, hopelessness, hypersensitive narcissism, social connectedness, gender, class level and family financial situation while growing up variables. The data were collected from a convenient sample of 520 students, who attended programs in various departments of a state university in Ankara during the academic year of 2019-2020. The Suicide Probability Scale (SPS), Meaning in Life Scale (MLS), Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), Hypersensitive Narcissism Scale (HNS), Social Connectedness Scale (SCS) and Demographic İnformation Form were used as data collection instruments. Whereas meaning in life, hopelessness, hypersensitive narcissism, social connectedness, gender, class level and family’s financial situation while growing up were independent variables, suicide probability were dependent variable. Multiple regression analysis was utilized to predict level of suicide probability. The relationship between gender and suicide probability levels of participants was used by independent samples t test. One-way ANOVA was utilized in the analysis of suicide probability levels, class level and family financial situation while growing up. Findings showed that, presence in meaning in life, hopelessness, hypersensitive narcissism and social connectedness significantly predicted suicide probability. University students’ suicide probability scores significantly differed according to family’s financial situation while growing up. Results, implications, limitations and recommendations for researchers and practitioners were discussed.
