Abstract
In contrast to the increasing population of the world, the decrease of natural resources is obvious as a result of people s ambition for bettering their life standards and consuming these natural resources unconsciously, and people are unfortunately unaware of the fact that environmental problems may be inevitable one day. To solve these environmental problems, it is necessary for people to change their consumption habits. In addition to this, the role of teachers in acquisition of environmental awareness cannot be underestimated. At this point, environmental awareness to take its place in the curricula is of vital importance. For this reason, the curricula that provide active participation of students in preventing and solving environmental problems and handling environmental education with an interdisciplinary approach and learning environments which are effective in terms of these curricula are necessary.
