Web 2.0 Uygulamalarının Türkçe Dersinde Motivasyona ve Başarıya Etkisi: Kahoot Örneği
Özet
This study aims to analyze the impact of Kahoot, a tool of Web 2.0 on motivation and success in the Turkish course. The study group of this research using an experimental design of preliminary-final control groups consists of 7th grade students in Mamak Vehbi Dinçerler Middle School. In the experiment group (n=27), lessons were taught through Kahoot-supported activities whereas teachers stuck to activities in the course book in the control group (n=25). The research process extended to four weeks (20 periods). In the study, Turkish Success Test, a Motivation Test developed by the researcher Özerbaş, was used as a data collection tool. The α coefficient showing the score reliability of the Motivation Test was founded to be ,88 whereas the α coefficient for the Turkish Success Test was ,81. After the data collection, their normality distribution was analyzed and it was decided that Paired Sample t-test and Unpaired Sample t-test should be used when comparing intragroup and intergroup scores. The test results show that the motivation increased highly in Turkish courses taught via Kahoot-supported activities (η2= ,56). However, a significant increase in the success score could not be detected. Moreover, any kind of gender-related discrepancy was not observed in the motivation and success scores for the Turkish course taught via Kahoot-supported activities.
