Özet
The current study aims to examine the Turkish Language Curriculum (2019) and Turkish Course textbooks in terms of assessment skills. The main goal of the study is to reveal the objectives of the assessment skills in the Turkish Language Curriculum and to determine how the activities for the assessment skills in the Turkish textbooks structure the learning process. In this regard, teachers' opinions were gathered in addition to the analysis of the textbooks and the curriculum. The main research materials were Turkish Course Curriculum (2019) and Turkish Course textbooks for the grades 5th-8th prepared by the Ministry of National Education and currently used as teaching materials. The data from the Turkish Course Curriculum and Turkish course textbooks were obtained by document analysis. "The Checklist of Cognitive Operations for Assessment" created by the researcher was used for the analysis of the assessment activities in the books. The study was structured with the embedded multiple-case pattern of the case study as one of the qualitative research methods, and the analysis of the data was carried out through content and descriptive analysis. The present study concluded that the objectives related to the assessment skills in the Turkish Course Curriculum did not show an equal distribution according to the learning areas, the activities in the Turkish textbooks prepared by the Ministry of National Education were insufficient to create a learning process related to the assessment skills, and the teachers had misconceptions and insufficient knowledge of assessment skills.
