Abstract

In this research, the contributions of the TRT Ankara Radio Polyphonic Chorus to the choirs in Turkey are included in the process. A comprehensive review was carried out upon the detection of the lack of literature review regarding the TRT Ankara Radio Polyphonic Choir. In this research, the formation of the "choir", the progress of the historycal of the choir, the concept of polyphonic music in the Ottoman Empire and the polyphonic choir, the works carried out within the framework of the National New Turkish Music Movement during the Republic of Turkey are included. Until the establishment of the TRT Ankara Radio Polyphonic Choir, it is presented in the study in historical order, taking into account the processes carried out for the professional choir culture in Turkey, as well as the effects on this choir in the institutional sense. It has been a study in which the new changes and formations that continued with the invention of the radio the effects of TRT Ankara Radio Polyphonic Choir, which is Turkey's first a cappella choir, on the development and institutionalization of Turkish Choral Music.
