In this study, the primary school (3, 4th grade) and secondary school (5, 6, 7, 8th grade)
Science textbooks prepared according to the 2018 curriculum between the 2019-2021
periods, approved by the Ministry of National Board of Education, It will be examined in
terms of inquiry-based teaching (IBT) approach, which forms the basis of the Science
Curriculum. In this context, Science textbooks approved by the Board of Education and
Discipline between 2019-2021 periods will be collected, and it will be analyzed whether it is
suitable according to the inquiry-based teaching (IBT) approach, which is an approach
suggested in the curriculum. In this research, document analysis, one of the qualitative
research methods, will be used. The data resulting from the examination of the books will
be subjected to content analysis. Analysis will be made by looking at the sub-categories
determined for content analysis. As a result of the examination, the appropriateness of the
primary school (3, 4th grade ) and the secondary school (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade
)Science textbooks in terms of inquiry-based teaching (IBT) and the consistency /
compatibility of the books published by different publishing houses with each other will be
tried to be revealed.
