Gençlerin ve Gençlik Çalışanlarının Gözünden Gençlik Politikaları ve Hizmetlerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

The aim of this study is to present the perspectives of young people towards youth policies and welfare services in Turkey and the field experiences of youth workers and to contribute to the development of youth policies and services from a social work perspective. Within the scope of the research, 12 youth and 10 youth workers were interviewed. Qualitative research method was used and data were collected through in-depth interviews. The interview form used in in-depth interviews was prepared by the researcher by examining the literature and using expert opinions. The data analysis was carried out through Maxqda within the framework of the themes and categories determined by the researcher. Youth participants emphasized the inadequacy of policies and services provided to them in areas such as education, employment, health, economy, technology and culture. They also underlined the problems they experienced in accessing these services. It was determined that this inadequacy and accessibility problems have a negative impact on the capability of youth. In addition, young people stated that policies and services were not designed in line with their own demands and recommendations. Youth workers stated that the fragmented and disorganized youth policies and services which are designed without the participation of young people could not be effective and efficient in the field. As a result, recommendations about youth and youth workers were included. One of the recommendations is to plan youth welfare services in line with the needs of youth. The importance of systematic, coordinated and sustainable youth policies and services was emphasized.
