Misconception definition is a wrong or inaccurate idea or conception.
Misconceptions are encountered in almost every field from past to present. This
thesis study focuses on misconceptions studies published in the field of ecology and
misunderstandings. In this context, after examining these studies with the qualitative
method, it has been revealed that the errors revealed can be located around 34
main titles and 680 statements. In the subject theme, the highest misconception was
determined in the food chain (98) sub-theme, and the lowest misconception was
determined in the definition of ecology (2) and competition (2) sub-theme. In the
education level theme of the study group, the highest frequency was determined in
the secondary school (233) sub-theme, and the lowest frequency was in the high
school textbook (1) sub-theme; in the class theme of the study group, the highest
frequency was observed in the university 3rd grade (111) sub-theme, and the lowest
frequency was in primary school 1,2,3,4. class (0) and university 1st class (0) sub theme; according to the age theme of the study group, the highest frequency is seen
at the age of 12-14. (54) sub-theme, and the lowest frequency was observed in the
sub-themes seen at the 7-8 (1) and 13-15 (1). The education level, class and age
of the study could not be determined which in some misconceptions in the fields of
ecology.
