Abstract
The concept of innovation, defined as the process of transformation of new ideas into commercial profit, has become one of the most needed tools for the businesses in the competition environment. A number of different variables have been employed as innovation indicators at the studies on factors, affecting innovation which has proved to have a vital role for the enhancement of a firm s profits and value. The objectives of this study have been questing whether intellectual property rights such as trademark and patent could be utilized as an indicator of innovation and also explaining the differences of firms that submit trademark and patent applications from the other firms, traded at the Istanbul Stock Exchange (Borsa Istanbul) via the logistic regression model.
