In the history of music, Ludvig van Beethoven is the Pioneer among the composers who
bridged the Classical era of the Romantic era. His bold and avant-garde approach to music
has brought Beethoven to the top amongst a handful of names in artistic creation. The
cornerstones of his music lies within his love for nature and people as well as his
emotional, tenacious, stubborn and contrary character. Despite that, he experienced one of
the most unfortunate illness a musician and a composer could have and struggled with the
deterioration of his condition towards the latter stages of his life. His tenacity and passion
to compose music have prevailed and made him one of the most remarkable composers of
all time.
This study has analyzed the Piano Sonata Op.110, No.31, which he composed late in his
career when he was completely deaf, through harmony, form and pianistic perspectives.
While conducting this analysis, the paper highlights the essential information for students
in detail.
