Abstract

In this study, the relationship between society and infomation has been discussed in the contex of quality and quantity of societal instituons; literacy, reading habit, schooling ratio, quantity and quality of libraries, publishing life, research and development activilies and internet usage. it has been found out that the relationship between information and society in Turkey is weak in view of all these elements. Thus, it is understood thal there are not sufficient educational,cııltural, scientific and technological conditions thal will provide the produciton and the usage of information technologies in Turkey.
