dc.description.abstractIn this study, the relationship between society and infomation has been discussed in the contex of quality and quantity of societal instituons; literacy, reading habit, schooling ratio, quantity and quality of libraries, publishing life, research and development activilies and internet usage. it has been found out that the relationship between information and society in Turkey is weak in view of all these elements. Thus, it is understood thal there are not sufficient educational,cııltural, scientific and technological conditions thal will provide the produciton and the usage of information technologies in Turkey.

dc.description.ozetBu çalışmada, toplumun bilgiyi neden, nerede, ne kadar, nasıl ürettiği ve kullandığı, onu nasıl algıladığı ve edindiği, bilgi ile ilgili kurumların niceliği ve niteliği, kısaca bilgi ile ilişkisi nin düzeyi ve niteliğini içeren anlamıyla bilgi-toplum ilişkisi, ilgili veriler temelinde incelenme ye çalışılmıştır. Okuryazarlık, okuma alışkanlığı, okullaşma düzeyi, kütüphanelerin nicelikleri,yıllık kitap-dergi üretimi, AR-GE etkinlikleri ve İnternet kullanımı gibi ölçütler çerçevesinde yapılan değerlendirmelerde, Türkiye'de sağlıklı ve güçlü bir bilgitoplum ilişkisini, dolayısıyla bilgi teknolojilerinin üretimini ve bilinçli kullanımını sağlayacak eğitimsel, kültürel, bilimsel ve teknolojik koşulların yetersiz olduğu anlaşılmıştır.
