There is an increasing evidence that physicians' burnout syndrome, which is now considered a public health crisis, occurs early in their careers during medical education. Burnout syndrome; It is a phenomenon that occurs especially in face to face occupations and develops against the intense stress situation in the workplace. It has been shown that the learning approach is not a personality trait and changes according to environmental factors. It can be thought that burnout seen in medical students may affect students' learning approaches. There is a strong relationship between student’s perception of educational environment and burnout. In this context, in this study, we aimed to determine the burnout levels of medical students and to determine whether students’ learning approach and learning environment are influenced by burnout levels and their relationship with each other. For this purpose, a single-center, cross-sectional descriptive study was planned. The data were collected via questionnaire form electronically. The questionnaire included questions about the sociodemographic characteristics and academic achievement, Maslach Burnout Inventory, ASSIST and DREEM-TR. A total of 241 students who were accepted to participate and completed the questionnaire were enrolled in the study. The mean age of the students was 23.79 ± 1.13 and 58.9% were female (n: 142). The mean scores of the Maslach Burnout Inventory, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment subscales were 17.54; 7.14 and 12.95. It was found that students mostly adopted strategic learning approach, students with lower academic achievement score adopted more superficial learning approach and their burnout levels were higher. It was determined that students' perceptions of education environment were generally problematic and burnout levels of students with negative perceptions of education environment were higher. In conclusion, in order to achieve effective and successful learning in medical faculties, reduce burnout rate and ensure patient safety, it is necessary to eliminate the insufficient elements of the educational environment.
