In this study, Op.73 D Major 2nd Symphony's 1st movement is examined in terms of form, thematic relations, musical character and orchestral conducting techniques.
Descriptive research and case study model were the base of the study. The study consist of four sections: In the first section, the methods and explanations related to the study is given. In the second section, persons effected Brahms's art and symphonic approach are examined and, innovations in the sonata form made by Brahms are presented. In fourth section, first movement is examined in terms of conducting techniques, and detailed analysis has been presented with the help of written sources for sufficient interpretation.
