The aim of this study is to examine the leadership of secondary school principals in Ankara and the burnout of secondary education teachers in terms of some variables.The study was carried out with 354 teachers working in the secondary schools located in the central districts of Ankara province in 2018-2019 academic year. Relational model was used for the study. Maslach Burnout Inventory, developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981) and adapted into Turkish by Ergin (1992); Multi-Factor Leadership Scale, developed by Bass and Avolio (1995) and adapted into Turkish by Karip (1998) and Personal Information Form, developed by the researcher were used as the data collection tool. The reliability results of the scales are at acceptable level. Data were analyzed by SPSS 20.0 program. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA test, multiple linear regression and correlation were used to analyze the data. According to the results, it has been observed that school principals has a high level of leadership style. It has been concluded that the school principals’ leadership style did not indicate a significant difference according to gender, age, seniority and educational status but it indicated a significant difference according to school type variable. It is seen that the school principals of Anatolian High School had more leadership style than the principals of Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. It is found out that teachers who participated in the study did not have burnout experience. According to variables the sex, age, seniority and educational status, it is concluded that the burnout of teachers did not difference significantly; but It is concluded that there is a significant difference according to the school type variable. It is observed that Anatolian High School teachers experienced more burnout than the Vocational and Technical High School teachers. There was a low, negative and significant relationship between the leadership of school principals and teachers' burnout. Regression analysis showed that the leadership of school principals was a significant predictor of teachers’ burnout.
