USING OF SYMBOLIC ILLUSTRATIONS AS DECORATIVE ELEMENT IN CERAMIC SURFACES

Supervisor: Professor, Kaan CANDURAN Autor: Denis Dilara KESİMLİ AYTEPE ABSTRACT The expression language of art, which is adorned with symbols, has been used to reflect the subjective data that is wanted to be transferred through many methods from past to present. With the maturation process of capital societies, many of the elements that we have been exposed to in many ways in everyday life, in printed material, in the digital world and in social networks are just symbols. In this sense, especially the symbols used in the artistic field are the starting point of this research. Animal figures, which are preferred in artistic works, can be completed by transforming into symbols that characterize human beings in their original situations shaped within the process of individual creation. In these drawings reflecting figures representing human characteristics; In addition to personality and characteristic features, it may be possible to observe the daily events and the impressions of the emotions occurring on these events. Within the scope of this research; The aim of the course is to transform the symbolic language used by artists to express their emotions and thoughts into expressions in different ways by combining the plastic elements and decor methods of ceramic into a personal expression. In this personal narrative, symbols are integrated with original ceramic decors in the form of illustrations created with the researcher's own language. Various decor methods applied in this sense are constructed with elements that emphasize and support the story created with the symbols used. With this method, artistic works were finalized.
