The experienced wave of migration after the Syria Civil War has made the refugee issue a major and priority subject for Turkey. This study focuses on the housing problem that has come up with mass migrations and refugees who have to migrate for political reasons. Today, at the 13 temporary shelter centers inside of Turkey, 136 thousand Syrians are living at the mobile houses that provided to them. This study aims to evaluate the design of mobile housing in state-built camps within the scope of refugee settlements. Refugee housings are designs that support the continuation of basic vital activities based on speed-time-cost, disregarding certain luxuries. The data collected during the study is expected to be a guide in refugee housing and camp design and contribute to developments in this area.
In the first part of the study, the temporary spaces arising out of necessity are discussed through mobile spaces, disaster relief shelters and their types are discussed, thus providing the necessary ground for the second chapter. The second part focuses on the design criteria of refugee camps and temporary housing.
