The study aimed to develop a measurement tool measuring the level of adults’ parentification in a specific way to Turkish culture and to investigate the relationship among levels of parentification, marital satisfaction, depression levels and socio-demographic variables of married individuals. In Study-I, validity and reliability analyzes were performed with 705 adults. There are two subscales of the scale: the first subscale as ‘general parentification’ (22 items-for all adults) explaining 59.52% of the total variance rate; the second subscale as ‘sibling-focused parentification’ (10 items-for adults with at least one sibling) explaining 62.10%. In the reliability study, the first subscale’s internal consistency (Cronbach Alpha) coefficient of the was .89; the second was .88. The correlation coefficient of the test-retest method was .91. The Parentified Child Scale-Adult Version, Beck Depression Scale, The Marital Satisfaction Scale and Personal Information Form were implemented to 597 married individuals in study-II. T-test showed that while levels of marital satisfaction of the individiuals with high and low levels of parentification were not significant differences, depression had made a difference. Socio-demographic variables’ effects tested via ANOVA showed that there was a significant difference in levels of parentification according to levels of parents’ education, condition of permanent disease in the family, spending time with parents, parents’ substance dependence, working status of father and mother, working status of parents’ one outside province, number of siblings, and working status of the person. Mother’s working status, gender and level of participants' settlement did not make a significant difference in the levels of parentification.
