The "horse", which is at the top of the list of beings most closely associated with humans throughout history and has been an assistant and companion in journeys, has represented being rich and noble in various cultures due to its elegance and power. The figure of this being, which is believed to invite positive forces and luck in many cultures, is frequently found in the cultural products of societies, especially in painting, as a metaphor for expressing different aspects of the inner lives of humans. The main goal of the Proficiency in Art Thesis studies is to discover the kinds of thoughts and feelings expressed through the use of the horse figure throughout the history of art and to fashion a unique style that strengthens this expression. The discovery of the hidden meanings of the horse figure in paintings represents also a personal journey and discovery due to the fact that the horse figure has been, unconsciously, appearing in personal paintings for a long time.
During the Proficiency in Art Thesis studies, the images of horse created throughout the history of art were examined according to their representational diversity, the conditions that caused them to emerge, the different cultures and geographical regions that led to their creation. The information gathered was compared, parallels and differences were pointed out. A methodology was decided upon for the artworks to be carried out once the points of partnership and diversity between the works were observed. The aim has been to create an original figure of expression, a new artistic language and through this, make a contribution to the field of painting.
