Stabilizer legs in mobile platforms are being used in many different fields. They take
two tasks at the same time; load carrying and mobile platform immobilization when
needed. In transport industry, they fix the elevator mechanism, is used to carry
household goods from building balcony, to the ground. In building trade, they fix mobile
concrete pumps to whereabout. In military applications, they fix missile launchers and
electronic – communication related platforms assembled to truck to the ground.
In mobile cranes assembled to truck chassis, these legs both stabilize the whole
system to the ground and prevent overturn under different load carrying conditions. In
all systems mentioned, stabilizer legs both carry load and also stabilize the mobile
system.
These systems can operate up to certain load levels. Aim of the thesis is to design a
system that can endure up to 40 tons of load and perform static, Quasi-Static and
fatigue analyses of the design and repeat the analyses until desired goals are
achieved. ANSYS, finite element software, will be used for all analyses.
Unique value of the thesis gained by the design and analyses had been done is to
create stabilizer legs that can carry and endure loads more than the stabilizer legs
already in use.
