Jean-Jacques Rousseau’nun Emile: Eğitim Üzerine Kitabının Öğretme-Öğrenme Süreçleri Açısından Analizi

In this master's thesis study in which the famous thinker Jean-Jacques Rousseau's "Emile: On Education" by the famous philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the relationship and similarities between characters and character development, philosophy and principles of education, values desired to be acquired, material and immaterial cultural elements, teaching-learning processes and teaching programmes in Turkey and the teachings in Rousseau's book "Emile" were examined. The data of the research were obtained by using document analysis method. The data source of the research was Jean-Jacques Rousseau's "Emile: On Education" by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, curricula in Turkey and articles and other academic documents written about the book. The findings of this study provided an in-depth overview of topics such as educational processes, character development, educational philosophy, curricula and teaching-learning processes and explained the situations examined. The results of the research emphasised the importance of Jean-Jacques Rousseau in education and showed that there are some principles and ideas that should be considered in the development of educational programmes, especially in terms of teaching-learning processes. This study analyzed character development in education and revealed the demographic characteristics of characters. Then, the educational philosophy and principles of the book were analyzed, and the developmental characteristics of the characters and the author's educational principles were revealed. Then, the values to be gained in the book, the processes for the acquisition of values, and the material and immaterial cultural elements were analyzed. Finally, the teaching-learning processes, what kind of teachings are presented in terms of the individual, family, society, and teachers are examined and evaluated in terms of the curricula in Turkey. As a result, this study has provided new insights into education and teaching processes with the findings obtained from the book Emile.
