La Traduction Des Oeuvres Littéraires Dans Le Cadre De La Diplomatie Culturelle

The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the crucial role of cultural diplomacy in general and that literary translation is one of the main tools in the service of a country's cultural diplomacy. Cultural diplomacy is a very broad field that consists of several units and many interrelated units. This aspect of cultural diplomacy is directly related to structuralism, where it is considered that an isolated element has no meaning and that meaning takes place when the elements of the structures work together. Furthermore, it is essential to understand the different dynamics of the different countries applying good cultural diplomacy in the world in order to have a more global view of the phenomenon. Thus, one should first of all have a good vision of traditional diplomacy and public diplomacy. Nowadays, digital diplomacy is also an essential practice, as is the use of social networks, to practice cultural diplomacy. Cultural diplomacy has many aspects and practices, among which literary translation provides a literary work with the power to influence the audience of a target language. Therefore, we decided to analyse two translations of novels in the context of cultural diplomacy, one from French to Turkish and the other from Turkish to French, to find out what effects literary translation can have in a cultural diplomacy context. The aim of our thesis is thus to demonstrate the parallelism between the data provided by the translation of a novel and the issues of diplomacy.
