Cambridge Uluslararası Sınavları ve Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı 11.sınıf Biyoloji Dersi Öğretim Programlarının Laboratuvar Uygulamaları Bakımından Karşılaştırılması

Abstract

The aim of this investigation is to bring to light the similarities and the differences in the laboratory activities found in the teaching programs for the biology lessons of the Turkish Ministry of Education (MEB) and the Cambridge International Examinations for grade 11, and to provide contribution to program development specialists in the preparation of laboratory activities sections of the biology course teaching programs. This is a qualitative research, which was made using the analysis of written documents through comparison method. The resources used for this research are the MEB Biology Teaching Plan for grade 11, being implemented since 2011, taken from the Head Council of Education and Discipline (TTKB) website, and the CIE Biology Teaching Plan for grade 11, being implemented since 2016, taken from the CIE’s official website. The two teaching plans have been compared using their respective laboratory activity learning outcomes, science process skills, contents, suggested teaching materials and evaluation methods as a basis. The conclusion reached at the end of this research was that although there are similarities in the suggested teaching materials and science process skills between the teaching programs, there are significant differences in the content, approach towards evaluation and the learning outcomes of the laboratory activities of the both programs.
