In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the individual disaster preparedness levels
of teachers working in public primary schools in Altındağ district of Ankara province.
The research was conducted with face-to-face interviews and aimed to reach 1552
teachers in 54 public primary schools in Altındağ district of Ankara province. Teachers
were provided to fill out the data collection form via Google Forms. The data collection
form consisted of two parts. The first part consisted of seven divisions prepared by the
researchers. The second part included the General Disaster Preparedness Belief Scale
and the data collection form consisted of 88 items. The obtained data were analyzed
with the SPSS program. Whether the variables fit the normal distribution was tested
with the Shapiro Wilks test. Student’s T test, One-Way ANOVA test and regression
analysis were used in statistical analysis where appropriate. 638 teachers, 436 of whom
were women, participated in the study. The average age of the teachers participating
in the study was determined as 41.3. 77,0% of the teachers stated that they were faculty
graduates. 30,0% of the teachers stated that they experienced a disaster. 46,0% of the
teachers stated that they received training on disasters. 95.5% of the teachers stated
that the negative consequences of disasters are preventable. 26,4% of the teachers
stated that they prepared disaster and emergency kits, and 36,3% stated that they had
Natural Disaster Insurance for the house they live in. The reliability of the General
Disaster Preparedness Belief Scale when applied to the teachers is high according to

the Cronbach-alpha internal consistency coefficients. The average score of the General
Disaster Preparedness Belief Scale of the teachers participating in the study was
determined as 3.99±0.51. The scores of teachers who received training on disasters
were higher than those who did not receive training. The general disaster preparedness
belief scale scores of the teachers who were given drills in the schools they work are
higher than the teachers who were not exercised in the school they work
