Abstract

The subject of this study is to reveal the applicability of the smart city concept and examples in Turkey, in terms of public policies, by examining the examples of the smart city, which offers solutions with the contribution of developing technological opportunities and intellectual competencies, against the problems brought about by the rapid urbanization of the World population. The ever-increasing population in cities can create an environment of urban chaos with the effect of the cultural structure that has become more complex due to migrations. It has recently been discussed whether these chaotic environments can be transformed into regular, safe, efficient and comfortable environments, within the framework of methods and rules that do not neglect human rights and social needs, together with the opportunities provided by technology. In this sense, the aim of this study is to make an evaluation in Turkey based on smart city examples in the world, to identify and develop suggestions for the effective and safe use of vital resources as well as time, which is the scarcest resource.
