Technological breakthroughs are reflected in every point of daily life and thus affect the way of living of the society and therefore the places. The human, creates designs in line with the requirements of modern life by affecting the equipment and product in every place he is a user. Modern living requirements, creates lay the foundation the smart products and materials covered by today's technology. Although smart material and product technology has gained popularity over the last decade, the starting point of this technology actually dates back to the studies on material science in the 1960s. These studies have led to the advancement of many steps in the name of material science, so that they can be used in the design of technological complex or simple smart products known today. Researchs, has examined the interaction of the materials with the environment, the user or any stimulus, and has led to the emergence of different types of intelligent materials that react to these stimuli. Smart materials have evolved to respond to many different stimuli. Certain types of these materials can be used as sensors and transducers for smart systems. Smart products are developed by operating the smart materials and systems mentioned in a series of programming and designs.
Each space is shaped by being influenced by this modern technology brought by life. Urban space can also respond to this new technological need and life of its user, and in this sense, it can encourage the user to be more comfortable in the city and to approach the user in a more sensitive manner. In this context, the requirements of a modern city life can be met with smart city furniture designed with smart systems.
The purpose of this study is to examine the types of smart materials and systems over the product samples used, to develop a smart urban equipment proposal for its use in urban spaces, in this context, the interaction, between the user-design-designer, the development of the design through a urban equipment that can be established with a basic level smart system, is to create awareness in terms of smart urban equipment usage awareness and environmental approach in urban space scale. In the first part of the study, the purpose of the thesis study, the approach to the subject, scope and method are presented. In the second part, the concept of reinforcement is defined, the difference of reinforcement and furniture is emphasized, the definition and types of urban reinforcement are examined with examples. In the third section, smart materials and systems are defined and classified.
Smart material and system types are examined by using usage examples. In the fourth chapter, the location, smart system module, working style and design features of the smart city reinforcement application designed as a proposal within the scope of the thesis study are given with visualizations. The way of using the design, implementation goals and approaches are explained. The literature reviews made as a result of the thesis study and the contribution of the design proposed within the scope of the study, the interaction of the user with the user in urban space and design within the context of urban life are mentioned.
