In this study, palynological features of 9 taxa (Verbascum caesareum Boiss, V. amanum Boiss, V. agastachyum Hub.-Mor, V. vulvanicum var. viridans Hub.-Mor, V. vulcanicum var. vulcanicum Hub.-Mor, V. urceolatum Hub.-Mor., V. galilaeum Boiss, V. flavipannosum Hub.- Mor., V. stenostachyum Hub.- Mor.) which belong to Verbascum (Group J) (Scrophulariaceae) in Turkey were scruntinized. The pollen preparations of the examined taxa were prepared according to the Wodehouse and Acetolysis methods. Morphological properties of pollen grains were determined with light microscope. Furthermore, pollen grains of 9 taxa were observed via SEM.
As a result of palynological examinations with light microscopy, differences were observed in the dimensions of pollen (polar axis, equatorial axis, Amb diameter), the dimensions of apertures (colpus length, colpus width, pore size and pore width), and also in exine thickness.
Consequently, the pollen type of the taxa which belongs to Verbascum (Group J) is tricolporate, shape of pollen grains is oblate spheroidal, exine ornamentation is microreticulate.
According to that the results of this research, pollen descriptions of Verbascum (Group J) taxa were given and identification depending on pollens were prepared. Boxplot graphics of polar axis, equatorial axis and Amb measures were drawn.
