Özet
This research is a descriptive study examining the differentiation levels of self in university students. The aim of the study was to investigate whether there is a significant difference in the mean scores of the differentiation of self-according to the socio-demographic characteristics and perceived parental attitudes of university students. The "Self-Differentiation Inventory Short Form (DSI-SF)" was used to measure the differentiation levels of the students, the "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher to collect data on the socio-demographic characteristics of the students, and the "Child Rearing Attitudes Scale" was used to measure perceived parental attitudes. The data were analyzed by Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), and the differences between the averages of the groups were checked with the Tukey test. Data analysis showed that significant relationships between dimensions of differentiation of self and the following variables: gender, mother's education and father's education, settlement unit, the frequency of harsh discussions within the family, perceived level of freedom / autonomy within the family, relational status, presence of quality friendships, the frequency of participation in university activities, perceived acceptance and control from the mother and perceived acceptance and control from the father. On the other hand, perceived economic status of the family did not significantly affect any dimension of self-differentiation. The findings were discussed in the light of the literature, and recommendations were made.
