Animal figures have been an indispensable way of self-expression for artists throughout the history of art. Horse form has had an important place in our cultural and social heritage. Lots of strong symbolic meanings are hidden in the horse form that the individual uses to express himself. Freedom, heroism, agility, dash, friendship and aesthetic lines are a few of those symbolic meanings. Using these rich symbols, one can express self through art. Horse form may have been handled in various ways in the ceramic art of our country. The horse form was chosen in this study because it identifies with intellectual freedom. The plasticity of ceramics coupled with the aesthetics of the horse form unveils unique combinations. Memories of past encounters with horses have been the driving force of the designs. The works are shaped by subjective feelings created by mythology, tradition and horse symbol. In this study; the effort to make use of the unlimited possibilities of the material is combined with the the cycle, skid and dash action present in the horse form and the individual's quest for freedom within himself.
