This Art Proficiency Artwork Report entitled “A Methodological Approach to the Process of Personal Creation in Ceramic Art” is an analysis of personal art practices that are carried out on materials. In this study, within the context of practices research, information from the literature on scientific and artistic research methods, mind mapping, brainstorming, sketching, mock-up and the creativity accompanying them, which are also the processes and tools of design, have been presented. Then, the place of practices researches, that are carried out about art in the world was analyzed. The effect of the material on the practice of making art is discussed and finally, personal researches are defined along with all their processes and documents.
The aim of this study is to create a metacognitive awareness and to report information that comes from experience by analyzing the implicitly progressing art practice through personal research. In the report, it is aimed to develop a deeper understanding of the material and to share the relationship that is developed personally with the reader while discovering the boundaries and possibilities of clay, the main material of ceramic art. In the research carried out on the material; titles such as thinness, pliableness, sound, solid piece firing, sustainability, color, texture, combinability with other materials have been determined and practices have been carried out in these extensions.
With the research carried out, it has been observed that the practice of making art progresses in different directions with different fields, rather than a linear way, the power of progressing experimentally and intuitively has been discovered, its relationship with the material has been emphasized and the whole process has been discussed methodologically.
