Sanat Tarihi Yazımı ve Eleştirisi: Sezer Tansuğ
Abstract
Having started department of Art History at Istanbul University in 1949, Sezer Tansuğ served as a research assistant of Mazhar Şevket İpşiroğlu betwen the the years 1953 and 1956. While he was about to complete his doctoral thesis, which was called “Surname-i Muradiye Minyatürleri” during his assistantship, he resigned from his post due to various reasons in 1956.Sezer Tansuğ published his views on art history at different magazines and newspapers and collected his writings in which he expressed his criticism and opinions into boks. When looked at his writings, it is understood that he didn’t limit himself to one field; instead, he wrote about many fields of art history. On the other hand, when the writings of Tansuğ are studied, it is possible to understand the development trend of art history in Turkey.
