Abstract
KILINÇ, Alp Kaan. Modeling of Computational Thinking-Based Micro Learning in
Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, PhD Dissertation, Ankara, 2025.
In this study, a digital learning environment was designed and developed using the
Design-Based Research (DBR) method to enhance the argumentation skills of B2-level
learners of Turkish as a foreign language. The transformative effects of the Fourth
Industrial Revolution have rendered technology an indispensable element in educational
processes, necessitating learning designs that integrate technology, content, and
pedagogy. Within this framework, the study was structured around the micro learning
approach, and short, focused micro tasks suitable for mobile environments were
developed. The learning content was constructed based on computational thinking
strategies, aiming to support learners' abilities in decomposition, pattern recognition,
abstraction, and algorithmic thinking. The research process followed the cyclical structure
of DBR and included the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation,
revision, and reimplementation. Both qualitative and quantitative data obtained during
the implementation process were used to evaluate the design model, resulting in the
proposal of a unique instructional design model that can guide future educational
practices. This study aims to contribute to the development of argumentation skills in the
context of teaching Turkish as a foreign language and to the broader field of technology
enhanced instructional design.
