Abstract
Sheet steels used for special ball bearing rings have not only different chemical compositions than standard ball bearing steels but also have to be subjected to different manufacturing techniques in order to achieve required forms. Sheet steels have high carbon content like standard bearing steels since required hardness levels are high for longer service life. With additional elements, sheet steels have higher hardenability but lower manufacturability with cold forming operations. Sheet metal ball bearing rings are manufactured under transfer dies with more than one operation. Due to sheet metals manufacturability, cracks and surface problems can be seen after manufacturing operations.
