Abstract
The internet and digitalization have become one of the fundamental elements shaping the structure referred to as the information society of the modern age. By accelerating the global dissemination of information and facilitating individuals' access to knowledge, this technological transformation has made life easier in many aspects of society. However, it has also disrupted the delicate balance between the protection of intellectual property rights and the freedom of access to information. This imbalance has led to the emergence of unforeseen legal challenges, particularly in the context of copyright infringements.
Factors such as anonymity, the economic power of digital platforms, and the diversity of content providers have transformed copyright infringements on the internet from merely a technical issue into a complex matter requiring unique legal regulations. In this context, the criminal liabilities of corporate executives in relation to internet-based violations stand out as a critical issue that needs to be reconsidered within the framework of classical principles of criminal liability.
Crimes committed in the digital world require a perspective distinct from traditional criminal law regulations due to unique aspects such as platform content management, anonymous user behavior, and the guarantee obligations of corporations. Roles such as content and hosting providers, which are among the key elements shaping the legal responsibilities of companies, expand the scope of criminal liabilities and make them open to debate.
In this regard, it is of great importance to reassess national and international regulations to align them with the requirements of the digital age. Developing a balanced, modern, and innovative legal approach has become essential to ensure the effective protection of the rights of creators while supporting the sustainability of the digital ecosystem.
