Meltem DEMİRTAŞ,Syrians Migration Process To Turkey And Network Of Relationships: Ulubey,Master Thesis, Ankara, 2019.
Large increase in the number of Syrians who immigrated to Turkey not only expanded the domain of the migration but also led different disciplines to conduct studies regarding forced migration as impact of migration has deepened. The subjects the study deals with include whether there are networks [person(s) or institution(s)] that are effective in Syrian forced immigrants' immigration process to Turkey and the process in which they seek to form a new living space, and, if any, how they reach these networks and the negative and positive outcomes of these networks, through the experiences and semantic worlds of participants. Setting forth the immigration process of Syrian immigrants to Turkey and the legal and illegal aspects of the roles of persons or companies act as intermediaries in establishing a living space especially through the semantic world of participants are among the aims of the study. The research population is Ankara Altındağ Ulubey Neighborhood, where dense Syrian population resides. Volunteer interviews were conducted with fifteen Syrian forced immigrants who live in Ulubey Neighborhood, using purposeful and snowball sampling methods. In the study, special attention has been paid to the fact that, because the networks they used in migration process were important, friends, family, intermediary structures were active in determining the participants and participants were fugitives or came into country through other ways. For qualitative data analysis, theme analysis has been performed using MAXQDA12 qualitative analysis program. Study findings reveal that the networks used by Syrian forced immigrants in the migration and establishing a new life processes are important and access to information and resources through these networks is related to the concept of social capital. In addition, the study also manifests that the legal and illegal aspects of the roles of persons or companies act as intermediaries in establishing a living space can be evaluated within the scope of the “immigration industry” concept.
